When 5 favorite photo’s of Baselworld turn into 10!
In the fast paced environment of Baselworld, schedules are tight and transit times sometimes non-existence. You go from appointment to appointment, handling the greatest and latest watches. One of the biggest challenges during Baselworld is the photography. Lighting is a constant problem, and time is always a restraint. This is battled by bringing our own lights and setup, which comes with its set of challenges, as it needs to be build up and broken down at every single appointment.
Yet there is that magical moment when images are uploaded, and you can see the fruit of all the work, which makes it all worth while. You know that it was a good fair when you ask Haute Time’s Director of Photography, Alex Teuscher, for his five favorite photo’s and he gives you ten, simply because he cannot choose among them.
That is quite a unique situation as Alex is notoriously critical of his own work. The most important ingredient of all these images is something that is the most difficult to find at Baselworld: great light! Especially when highlighting details, this can be particular challenging.
When you get up close and personal with a watch not only all details are revealed but also the quality of the work. Then you can truly see that watches have evolved from mere timekeepers to objects of art. Every detail is perfect, even the ones that you normally wouldn’t even notice with the naked eye. That is why every watch enthusiast should travel with a loupe to enjoy the craftsmanship and details of watches in all their glory. Or you can, of course, tune into Haute Time where they will be exposed by the lenses of our camera’s in the most amazing photo’s!
