Number One Golfer Dustin Johnson Becomes Hublot Ambassador
Hublot’s cohort of brand ambassadors welcomes a new addition – top golfer Dustin Johnson.
Joining the Swiss horologer, Johnson, known as DJ, continues his winning streak, which, this year, propelled him to the peak of the world’s golfer ranking.
The distinction comes after his victory in the US Open 2016. The coveted prize was a first significant grab for 32-year old DJ, who has been swinging the club for a decade now. Previously referred by his peers as “the best player in the world never to have won a Major title,” DJ’s resolve and superb skills eventually paid off, shifting his fortunes toward a phenomenal season last year. After securing the US Open, he prevailed in the World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational, the BMW Championship, the Ryder Cub with the American team and the World Golf Championships – Mexico. Topping the PGA Tour Money List, DJ turned a steady vocation into a stellar career.
“His career has a particular resonance for us, in some respects mirroring that of Hublot. We always remember the day that “changed” our lives,” said Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of Hublot, in a press release on the occasion. “And he also reminds us that each shot on the golf course is crucial; we need to constantly excel ourselves and start over.”
As a Hublot ambassador, Dustin Johnson enters the watchmaker’s family of athletes whose exceptional talents have redefined the world of sports. Among these are Usain Bolt, the fastest man alive, as well as football legends Maradona and Pele.
“I am honored to join the distinguished list of Hublot Ambassadors, especially since I have always been such an admirer of their timepieces,” said DJ. “Each one is so unique, unlike many of the other luxury brands, which I appreciate and enjoy. I am very excited about the partnership and hope to hoist a few trophies with a Hublot on my wrist.”
