IWC Schaffhausen Unveils Portuguese Sidérale Scafusia in Singapore
During an exclusive dinner event held in Singapore’s prestigious Tamarind Hill Restaurant, IWC Schaffhausen, the luxe horlogerie manufacture, took advantage of the lush hill-top setting to present the Portuguese Sidérale Scafusia chronograph to guests and to gaze at the stars.
Technologically speaking, the timepiece is a master work of haute watchmaking and is the IWC’s most complex time-keeping device ever developed. The culmination of an entire decade of ground-breaking research, the Portuguese Sidérale Scafusia unites solar time with side real time; the watch also presents astronomical displays. New technical features with astounding complications make this chronograph a work of art as well as innovative in the field of horlogerie manufacture.
Present at the event were Member of the Board of Directors at IWC Schaffhausen Mr. Hannes Pantli, Mr. Goris Verburg, Managing Director of IWC South East Asia and members Singapore’s official astronomical organization, The Astronomical Society of Singapore (TASOS). President of TASOS Mr.Albert Ho delighted guests with a brief talk about the fascinating world of astronomy.
After dinner, watch aficionados were also treated to a preview of the IWC’s latest timepiece and were able to see the distinguished Portuguese Sidérale Scafusia up close. An additional treat was available for guests: while guests were permitted to have a look at the masterpiece of fine watchmaking craftsmanship, members of TASOS had set up professional telescopes for star-gazing. The clear conditions of the night sky made it possible for everyone to have a clear view of several constellations and planets. TASOS members were also happy to answer any astronomy questions that guests had.
