“We were extremely pleased with how the event went and were honoured to support such an integral part of the customer journey for the Sabre,” said O’Gara Motorsport director, Parris Mullins. “And today we are thrilled to hand over the first McLaren Sabre to its new owner – this time, not just a client, more a customer who has been in a part collaborator, designer and factory test driver as their dream came to reality”

Sabre is limited to 15 examples and the owners of these cars have also actively participated in the designing and development of the supercar. The McLaren Sabre by MSO is a co-creative project with its customers and the engineers and designers. Every car is tailored to the specifications and requirements of its owner. Each of the owners was flown down to the UK to visit the design studio to discuss their preferences as well as have a test drive at the Thermal Club Private Race Club.

The hypercar is essentially the offspring of the iconic 250-mph McLaren Speedtail and McLaren Senna with bespoke features and an exaggerated speed and aerodynamics. Some of the amazing features of this hypercar include Le Mans-style fin, giant rear diffuser, front splitter, and distinctive three-slat wing. The striking McLaren butterfly doors complete the look of the two-seater vehicle.

While McLaren hasn’t revealed full technical details of the Sabre, the car uses the company’s 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 putting down 824 bhp and 800 Nm of peak torque – 35 bhp more than Senna. The top speed reaches up to 218 mph (352 km ph), making it McLaren’s fastest non-hybrid two-seater car yet! “I’ve been fortunate enough to have been involved with a number of very special cars and I’ve never seen a manufacturer give clients the level of access that McLaren Special Operations has provided for the Sabre,” commented Parris Mullins, Motorsport Director for O’Gara Motorsport.

The first customer’s car is a sleek yet bold combination of red, white and black livery. The rest 14 are personalised according to their owners. As there hasn’t been any price announced, this powerhouse of a car would cost more than its peers.
