F.P. Journe 10 Years Anniversary Tourbillon
The timepieces of F.P. Journe, known as “the watchmaker’s watchmaker” are widely sought after, with only the lucky few able to obtain one out of his very limited production. François-Paul Journe himself has therefore found a most equitable way to distribution his 10 Years Anniversary Tourbillon – by draw. With one watch only per each of F.P. Journe’s boutiques worldwide, the master watchmaker says, “Our ten boutiques have each proposed us candidates among our faithful collectors, and the names of the 10 lucky clients were randomly selected by draw during our annual fair last week in Geneva.”
The watch is a platinum edition, the movement of which is identical to Journe’s original Tourbillon of 1983. It is called 10 Year Anniversary in celebration of the opening of the first F.P. Journe boutique, in Tokyo, 10 years ago. This year marks the inauguration of the 10th boutique, in Beirut. The dial is in grained silver, with a blackened hour display, which is even rarer than the dial of the watchmaker’s “Black Label” edition, reserved to the boutique, and maintained by a screwed steel polished circle. The hours are indicated by Abraham-Louis Breguet hands. The movement, the manual wound tourbillon Caliber 1412, is rendered in 18k rose gold, and is driven by two barrels. It has a 56-hour power reserve.
