It was out of this passion that, last year, Semilof and business partner Kamal Hotchandani launched luxury timepiece website Haute Time. The two curate the site, hand-selecting all content that goes live. Semilof highlights his favorite—and the most sought-after—watch brands through weekly five-question interviews with the CEOs and Presidents of these top-tier companies. Finally, he curates the site on a daily basis, including three or more updates on newsworthy topics every day.

The world’s largest watchmaker, Swatch said it expects growth to continue this year after a good start in January. The company, whose products range from high-end automatic watches like Breguet and Blancpain to the widely recognized plastic watches, is gaining from demand mainly among Asian consumers – along with a few other select Swiss watch makers.   Vacheron Constantin has always been a great supporter of Geneva Musee d Art et d’Histoire and will be displaying a few of their rare timepieces at the “Watchmaking in Geneva. Switzerland Watch Exhibit Featuring New Blancpain X Fathoms Shuts Down After Attempted Robbery

A crew of four robbers made their way into the exhibition at Cité du Temps in Geneva and destroyed cases, attempting to steal some of the X Fathoms watches, but the robbery was intercepted by company SIC. A representative from Swatch, which owns the Blancpain brand, stated that “most of the watches” were recovered and one of the four thieves was taken into custody. However, the destruction caused to the show and timepieces forced the watch brand to shut down the exhibit earlier than anticipated.   High-end brands will be searching for alternative suppliers now that Swatch Group has decided to lower the watch part supplies to rival watchmakers. Distinguished Swiss watchmaker Jaquet Droz announced their launch of a micro-site dedicated to the brand’s historical automatons and its recent exposition tour, “Automates et Merveilles.” Pierre Jaquet Droz was not only considered an imaginative watchmaker but well known for perfecting and selling sophisticated automatons. His work culminated with three humanoid robots: The Writer, The Draughtsman and The Musician, which were presented in La Chaux-de-Fonds in 1774.
