The two curate the site, hand-selecting all content that goes live. Semilof highlights his favorite—and the most sought-after—watch brands through weekly five-question interviews with the CEOs and Presidents of these top-tier companies. Finally, he curates the site on a daily basis, including three or more updates on newsworthy topics every day.

Basel World: My Interview with Franc Vila, One Of My Favorite Watchmakers In The World

Basel World: My Interview with Franc Vila, One Of My Favorite Watchmakers In The World

I was very excited to meet Franc Vila for the first time. I am a huge fan of the watch brand and an owner of the Franc Vila Cobra myself. He immediately realized that I was a client and fan interviewing him to understand his vision and where he planned to take the company in 2012. All of Franc’s pieces are very cool, with some of the best technology I have ever seen. Plus, he himself is very cool with a great sense of style. He immediately impressed me with a ladies’ tourbillon watch in black and red. Unlike most READ MORE

Basel World: An Inside Tour of Buben & Zörweg With Harald Buben

Basel World: An Inside Tour of Buben & Zörweg With Harald Buben

My last meeting of the day was by far the coolest. It was with Buben & Zörweg and I must say, WOW. For anyone that owns watches, you know you need a good place to store them. Harald Buben, part owner/partner of Buben & Zörweg, took me around his showroom at Basel World and showed me his newest launch: a partnership with Aston Martin called the Aston Martin Object of Time One-77. This is one of the coolest things I have ever seen and a must-own for an Aston Martin lover with a watch collection. The Time-One 77 comprises a READ MORE

Basel World Continues With HYT Watch Creator Vincent Perriard

Basel World Continues With HYT Watch Creator Vincent Perriard

My next meeting on Sunday was with one of the biggest rock stars of Basel World, Vincent Perriard, the creator of the HYT Watch. His first launch is the H1 Hydro Mechanical Watch. On the website, they describe the piece as an encounter between Fine Watchmaking and fluid mechanics. Basically, the watch performs and works on liquids. It has 65 hours of power reserve and the high tech watch movement boasts a liquid module thanks to two pistons moving the liquid in the tube. In one was an aqueous liquid filled with fluorescing, and in the other, a transparent viscous liquid. READ MORE

Basel World Update: Haute Living’s Exclusive Access And Video Of The Rolex Oyster Perpetual Sky-Dweller

On Saturday I was able to get a first look at Rolex with our watch writer Carol Besler. All I can say is, what an opportunity to look and capture on video the Sky-Dweller. This is one of the most amazing pieces from Basel World and a huge honor that Haute Time was able to get an inside look at the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Sky-Dweller. This piece for Fall of 2012 will be one of the hautest watches to get on the market. The watch currently has 14 patents, five of which are new, so this is definitely a piece READ MORE

Harry Winston Opus 12: The Reinvention of Time

Harry Winston Opus 12: The Reinvention of Time

The introduction of Harry Winston’s Opus timepieces are always awaited with great enthusiasm at Baselworld and this year’s Opus has puzzled those passionate about high complications like never before. Opus 12 rebels the conformist rules of watch making, creating a most improbable mechanical concept. This exceptional timepiece intentionally throws out the perception of time by portraying its inspiration from the Copernican revolution, in which the earth rotates around the sun and around itself. Time does not read via a pair of hands situated in the center of the dial, instead the peripheral drive of 12 pairs of hands are going READ MORE
