Mr. Novela is also a strong supporter of the arts, having Co-Chaired the Perez Art Museum Miami annual gala and annual corporate luncheon. Mr. Novela has a unique collection of contemporary art and watches with a particular emphasis on pre-1980 vintage timepieces.

An Intimate Look at Cvstos

I recently had the opportunity to meet Sassoun Sirmakes, founder and CEO of Cvstos at an intimate dinner for watch collectors at The Forge restaurant on Miami Beach. Havana State of Time

Vintage Cuervo y Sobrinos watches are something relatively new to my collection, and I can point to a recent trip with my late father, to Havana Cuba as the impetus to buy one. The watch that started it all was my grandfathers, a 46mm, enamel dial, nickel chrome case with hinged back, pocket watch conversion, Swiss made by Roskopf for Cuervo y Sobrinos, circa 1920s. Cuervo y Sobrinos, as the story goes, was the Tiffany’s of Havana before the 1959 communist revolution.
