Baselworld 2019: Different Except For The Awesome Watches!

It was hard to know what to expect, as so much would be different this year at Baselworld. With the attending brands now down to just over a hundred, the show is more compact, yet the new fair management also took the opportunity to make good use of the left over space. Greenery, indoor ponds and more luxurious culinary options have given the fair a more upscale appearance, one that is matched by the amazing watches that are presented here!

MB&F Flying T

MB&F launched their very first watch particularly aimed at ladies. The Flying T is a stunning creation, with a high domed sapphire crystal under which the movement is stacked. Set with diamonds, it is a watch that demands attention, not only from an aesthetic point of view but from a technical one as well!

Zenith El Primero Double Tourbillon

Zenith is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the El Primero movement and does that in the same fashion as it started: through innovation. The Defy El Primero Double Tourbillon uses its two separate escapements to deliver supreme precision. One ensures a consistent rate for the time-keeping part of the watch, while the other serves the chronograph function which can measure time up to 1/100th of a second. A proper descendant of the movement that changed the face of watchmaking fifty years ago.

TAG-Heuer welcomes the new Autavia collection. While this is a great looking watch and welcome addition to the brand’s line-up, it is the carbon balance spring, which TAG-Heuer makes in-house, that truly sets this watch apart from its peers. It greatly reduces the effects that for example, magnetism can have on the precision of the movement. TAG-Heuer launches the new Autavia in no-less than seven references, including a very beautiful one in bronze.

Jacob Bugatti

Jacob & Co announced their partnership with Bugatti, and immediately launched two watches to commemorate this special event. The first one is a Epic X Chrono fitted with a case made from forged carbon. On the dial, we find the French colors, as well as the Bugatti logo. The other one is the Twin Turbo Furious, with its impressive double triple axis tourbillon and innovative chronograph, which is now highlighted by Bugatti blue details, and clever use of the colors of the French flag in the power reserve indicator.
