Zenith launches the Zenith El Primero Chronomaster 1969 Cohiba Edition in Dubai
As part of the international celebrations to launch the Zenith El Primero Chronomaster 1969 Cohiba Edition first presented in Havana on May 24, the Swiss watch brand from Le Locle recently hosted not just one but two prestigious events in Dubai, in collaboration with luxury retail partners Rivoli Group.
Zenith CEO Aldo Magada, and Vice Chairman & Managing Partner of Rivoli Group, Ramesh Prabhakar, welcomed cigar aficionados to the N.5 Cigar Lounge at the Ritz Carlton-DIFC to have an exclusive look at the new timepiece while sharing unique cigar-rolling moments under the watchful eye of an expert brought specially to Dubai for the occasion. The Zenith El Primero Chronomaster 1969 Cohiba Edition was created in honour of the 50th anniversary of Cohiba cigars – the most exclusive brand of Habanos cigars – noted for its high quality of craftsmanship.
CEO Magada highlighted this craftsmanship, and also the values of excellence and precision shared by both brands, when addressing specialized and trade press at an elegant luncheon — the second event organized in honour of the new timepiece.
Zenith knows all about anniversary celebrations. Founded in 1865, the Manufacture has enjoyed more than 150 years of uninterrupted watchmaking during which it has won 2,333 chronometry prizes and created its legendary El Primero caliber – the integrated automatic column-wheel chronograph movement launched in 1969 with a high frequency of 36,000 vibrations per hour that ensures short-time measurements accurate to the nearest 1/10th of a second.
The Zenith El Primero Chronomaster 1969 Cohiba Edition is available in a 42 mm rose gold or stainless steel case with fluted crown and two push-pieces at 2 and 4 o’clock. Its specially created Havana brown dial, visible through the domed sapphire crystal, is spanned with vertical lines and motifs distinctive of the Cuban brand — its emblem: the profile of aboriginal chief Taino, appears alongside the Zenith and Cohiba logos. Facetted, luminescent hands, and of course the pulsating heartbeat beneath the opening at 11 o’clock, complement the chronograph subdials on the striking commemorative face.
Through the sapphire caseback, engraved with Cohiba’s 50th anniversary logo, we admire the oscillating weight adorned with “Côtes de Genève”.
