Wake Up In Style With The New Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox Models
The Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox is, in many ways, an icon within the watch industry. This model has been an essential part of the Jaeger-Lecoultre collection for seventy years, and, as the two new models prove, it hasn’t lost any of its appeal. Next to a classic version, the Master Control Memovox, which represents the essence of the model, did Jaeger-Lecoultre also introduce the Master Control Memovox Timer, which offers an additional complication.
The Master Control Memovox gives us the very clean and legible design that has been a hallmark of this model since it was first introduced. It has a beautiful silver dial with a sunray motif. Two crowns flank the 40mm large case, one operates the alarm function, while the other is for setting the time and date. The disc in the middle of the dial, fitted with a subtle arrow, indicates the alarm time. Jaeger-LeCoultre combined it with dauphine styled hands for the hours and minutes, and a blued central mounted seconds hand provides a dash of color to the watch. It is fitted with a Novonappa calfskin strap in a light brown color, which gives the Jaeger-Lecoultre a classic appearance, yet one with a sportive touch.
What makes this new generation of Memovox also so exciting is that, for the very first time, it has been fitted with a see-through caseback. This allows you to admire not only the superb finish of the movement, with its Geneva stripping and blued screws but also to see the alarm function in action. This is made possible by a redesigned movement, caliber 956, which has been developed and produced in Jaeger-LeCoultre‘s manufacture in Le Sentier, Switzerland.
The Master Control Memovox Timer is essentially the same watch, yet comes with an additional function: a timer. Thanks to a hand in the center of the dial, you can set the number of hours that need to pass before the alarm rings. While this watch offers an additional function, its dimensions are the same size as that of the Master Control Memovox, 40mm in diameter, and only 12.39mm thick. For this model, which is limited to 250 pieces, Jaeger-LeCoultre took a slightly different approach to the dial’s design. They opted for different hues of blue, which give it a dynamic appearance and increase the legibility of the various functions even further. This is also a watch that shows that despite its 70-year old history, Jaeger-Lecoultre is not done with the Memovox, but ready to write another chapter for it.
