Van Cleef & Arpels Brings Its Midnight Planétarium Watch to Dubai’s Planetarium
Last week, during a special event at the Planetarium Dome of the Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization, Van Cleef & Arpels paid tribute to the Midnight Planétarium.
The celestial-inspired Midnight Planétarium is part of Van Cleef & Arpels’ Poetic Complication collection, which combines the poetry of the spheres with the measurement of time.
Unlike a traditional watch, the Midnight Planétarium does not have any hands on its dial. Instead, the starry blue dial puts our solar system in perspective, depicting the orbits of Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn around the Sun, which is featured at the center of the dial.
During the event in Dubai, the manufacture also showcased some of its watchmaking icons. These included the Charms timepiece that takes on a mantle of pink gold with exquisite simplicity, while the Pierre Arpels collection welcomes two creations that reflect the lifestyle of the multi-talented aesthete whose name it bears.
This special event revealed creations that once again tapped into Van Cleef & Arpels’ ongoing themes of luck and the importance of the passage of time through elegant creations.
