Vacheron Constantin Unveils Patrimony Traditionnelle 14-Day Tourbillon Collection Excellence Platine

This week luxury watchmaker Vacheron Constantin unveiled a new addition to its Collection Excellence Platine. The Patrimony Traditionnelle 14-day tourbillon combines this precious material with one of haute horlogerie’s major complications.

The Patrimony Traditionnelle 14-day tourbillon begins with a 42mm PLatinum 950 case housing a sand-blasted Platinum 950 dial. The dial features off-centred hours and minutes functions with black painted indications, tourbillon and small seconds at 6 o’clock and a « PT 950 » hallmark between 4 and 5 o’clock. There is also a display for the 14-day power reserve.

At its heart is the mechanical hand-wound Vacheron Constantin Calibre 2260 tourbillon movement, equipped with four barrels stacked in pairs, interconnected and discharging simultaneously. A “dragging” or “trailing” hand shows the remaining energy on a 280° sector in the power-reserve indicator. Larger than classic indicators, all 14 days are shown on the indicator, themselves divided into two 12-hour slices, thereby enhancing readability.

The tourbillon carriage, inspired by the Maltese Cross, features hand-bevelled interior angles. According to the manufacture, the tourbillon bar alone took over 11 hours of hand craftsmanship to round off.

A dark blue Mississippiensis alligator leather strap hand-sewn with silk and 950 platinum thread, with a 950 platinum folding clasp, completes the look. Only 50 numbered pieces of the Patrimony Traditionnelle 14-Day Tourbillon Collection Excellence Platine will be produced.
