To honor its watch connoisseurs in the Gulf countries, Swiss haute horologer Vacheron Constantin added a novel timepiece to its signature Metiers d’Art collection.

A highly limited line of 10 pieces, the watch debuted at the inaugural Gulf Concours, an invite-only exhibit of retro and rare cars that took place Nov 17th – 19th on the lawns in front of the Burj Al Arab and which the Manufacture sponsored.

A fine example of Swiss horological excellence, the Metiers d’Art Gyr pays tribute to the Arab time-honored art of falconry. Across its intricate guilloche dial soars an 18-carat-white-gold falcon, so masterfully engraved that even the smallest of details – from feathers to claws – stand out crisp and polished. The royal bird glides in a dark blue sky over the saffron sands of a desert – a bright miniature unobscured by movement hands or numerals.

Powered by Caliber 2460 G4, the watch ticks away time through four apertures, which swoosh around the display to indicate the hours, minutes, days and dates. Two dragging and two jumping, these indications attest to Vacheron Constantin’s flair for unique timepieces.

The sapphire crystal back of the Metiers d’Art Gyr’s platinum case is as striking and reverent to Arab culture as the front. It features a common Islamic pattern that references the architecture of the famed Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque.

Bearing the coveted Hallmark of Geneva, the Gyr timepiece will be exclusively available in Vacheron Constantin boutiques in the six GCC states – the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.
