Ulysse Nardin Lets Diamonds Do The Talking In The New Skeleton X Sparkling Collection
Throughout its rich history has Ulysse Nardin made a name for itself by creating striking and technically advanced watches. Unique is that these two elements are not only in harmony with each other but actually reach synergy. This is also evident in the new Skeleton X Sparkling collection, which offers a contemporary take on luxury.
To achieve this, Ulysse Nardin combines 149 brilliant-cut diamonds with a 42mm large case in either titanium or pink gold to create this. The effect is quite spectacular. The bezel is fully set with diamonds, which is very traditional within the watch industry, but Ulysse Nardin gives the watch a twist by also setting the hour markers with these precious stones. This adds a generous dash of glamour as well as adds a layer of depth to the design. While both watches are equal in design, they have distinctly different characters. The pink gold version is an ode to tradition, as its rich color shows its most elegant side with the diamonds and the black strap and details. The titanium version hails the future, as this light material favored by the aviation industry can rarely be found set with diamonds.
The beauty of the new Skeleton X Sparkling can not only be found in the use of diamonds, and the well-finished case, but also in the movement itself. But even here do the diamonds also play an essential role, as the X formed by four of the hour markers visually draw your eye into the movement. There we also find a combination of tradition and innovation. The movement itself is crafted and skeletonized according to the long-standing traditions within the Swiss haute horlogerie, but that doesn’t make it traditional. Ulysse Nardin is one of the pioneers in the field of silicon parts, and the Skeleton X Sparkling is therefore also fitted with an innovative balance wheel made of this material. Originally developed for the legendary Freak Vision, this balance wheel is extra wide and fitted with nickel flyweights and stabilizing microblades. This not only ensures increased precision and less effect of magnetism but is also a treat for the eye. With that, it underscores Ulysse Nardin’s legacy in which forward-thinking design and innovative technological advancements go hand in hand, and revolutionize the world of watches
