Two F.P. Journe Timepieces Were Auctioned Off For Charity
Capping off an exciting week of watch auction coverage, two stunning F.P. Journe timepieces were recently auctioned off on Tuesday, May 12 at a charity gala at the Intercontinental in Geneva. The proceeds of the auction went to benefit Action Innocence, a charity devoted to protecting children on the internet.
After a fierce round of bidding under the gavel of Aurel Bacs, Lebanese watch collector and jeweler Claude Sfeir came away with the big prize of the day — the F.P. Journe Tourbillon Souverain— with a final price of 350’000.- CHF. In a show of extreme generosity, his chief competitor, Robert Manoukin donated an additional 300’000. – CHF to the final price to benefit the charity.
Another piece, the “élégante” in titanium and rubber was also auctioned off and sold for a record price of 55’000.- CHF. These two pieces were specifically designed in purple for the Action Innocence charity.
