Throwback Thursday: Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde
Like many iconic pieces from heritage watchmaking companies, the Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde began as a pocket watch. The distinctive arrangement of the time functions, with off-centered hours and large seconds subdial established the foundation of today’s collection – an early figure 8, which is a brand signature. The original, made circa 1785 in La Chaux-de-Fonds by founder Pierre Jaquet-Droz, has an enamel dial, another important signature of Jaquet Droz. It had a lush, 50mm diameter and contained a hand-wound movement. The Grande Seconde is now part of the Legend Geneva collection.
