Three New Watches That Show That Color Is The New Credo

The days that a watch would be available with either a black or a silver dial are long gone. Color is the new credo, as many brands now release watches in a rainbow of different hues. Recently, the colorful dials of the new Oyster Perpetual 41 even eclipsed the news of the revised Submariner. Blancpain and Jaeger-LeCoultre also offer a colorful take on existing favorites as they launch their new models.

A desert-colored Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe Day-Date
Inspired by Blancpain‘s pioneering diving watch from the 1970’s features this new Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe Day-Date a rather unusual color dial. Its desert-colored theme was inspired by Death Valley, where Blancpain ambassador Ernest H. Brooks II made a spectacular dive in 1962, capturing for the very first time the Cyprinodon diabolis, an extremely rare and endangered species of fish. It is quite refreshing to see a diving watch in this color, all the more as the gradient-colored dials suit the character of the Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe so well. Being a true diving watch is the 43mm stainless steel case water-resistant up to 30 bar, despite being fitted with a sapphire caseback. Its manufacture caliber 1315DD is equipped with a silicon balance-spring, reducing the effect magnetic fields have on its precision, and has a 5-day power reserve. The Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe Day-Date Desert Edition is limited to 500 pieces.

Blue may be regarded as a traditional color for diving watches these days, the way that Jaeger-LeCoultre applied it on the dials of their two new Polaris Mariner models makes them stand out anyway. In a beautiful gradient goes the color from bright blue to deep and dark. This goes very well with the rest of the design. Both watches feature an internal rotating bezel to keep track of the diving time and are water-resistant up to 30 bar. They are also equipped with a sapphire caseback through which the Jaeger-LeCoultre Manufacture movements can be admired. With the Polaris Mariner Memovox, this means that you can also see the hammer that sounds the alarm in action, which can even be heard underwater when diving.

The Blancpain Bathyscaphe Chronographe Flyback goes green
The Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe Day-Date Desert Edition is not the only colorful news that Blancpain has to offer. Their Bathyscaphe Chronographe Flyback is now also available in green. While this is not the first color your think of for a diving chronograph, does it make for an enticing combination with the black ceramic case. It is matched by a green ceramic bezel insert, while either a NATO or sail canvas strap in black allows the dial to take center stage. As is the case with the other Bathyscaphe Chronographe Flyback models,  is this one equipped with caliber F385, which beats at a frequency of 5 Hz, allowing 1/10th to a second precision for the chronograph function.
