There was fierce competition, as the quality of the nominated films and performances was very high. On the red carpet, there was also quite some competition on who dressed the most memorable. One of the winners was of course ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, which won not only the price for Best Motion Picture in the Drama-category but also the outstanding performance of Rami Malek playing Freddy Mercury was awarded a Golden Globe as well. Dressed in a classic tuxedo, Malek opted for a Cartier Tank MC to accompany him on this memorable night!
Another actor that took home a Golden Glove is Darren Criss. He portrayed Andrew Cunanan in ‘The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story.’ Dressed in the style of the legendary designer, he sported an IWC Portofino Automatic.
Sterling K. Brown, with Ryan Michelle Bathe by his side, went all in on the outfit and also picked an IWC to complement it, or rather to off-set it! While an IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Edition Antoine De Saint Exupéry might not instantly strike as black tie appropriate, Brown showed otherwise.
Keen connoisseurs might have also noticed that Ryan Seacrest had his vintage Rolex Daytona ref. 6263 peeking from under the cuff at the awards show. He was not the only one that opted for this famous chronograph as also Tyler Perry wore one to the Golden Globe Awards. He opted however for a more modern variety, having the diamond set ref.116599 around his wrist.
Michael B. Jordan joined the rest of the cast of ‘Black Panther’ in a stylish double-breasted tuxedo. On his wrist was, of course, a Piaget, the brand of which Jordan is a passionate ambassador.
Spike Lee, who was nominated for the award for ‘Best Director’ in the motion picture category, for his movie ‘BlacKkKlansman,’ took the same approach as Sterling K. Brown, yet with a different twist. Dressed in purple, Lee also opted for a more sportive watch, namely the Polaris Chronograph World Time by Jaeger-LeCoultre, clearly marking that sports watches do have earned their place at the red carpet!
