The Newest Luxury Accessory: the $10,000 Vertu Ti Phone
Vertu, the creators of limited-edition luxury mobile phones, have unveiled the newest must-have luxury accessory. For watch collectors looking to expand their repertoire of covetable pieces, the company’s Vertu Ti will be highly desirable. The first luxury android handset to hit the market, this phone is set to retail for about $10,000.
Crafted by hand in England, this 184 part phone is created with practically the same care and attention to detail that goes into the creation of a Swiss-made timepiece. (In fact, much like a limited-edition watch, every Vertu Ti is signed by the craftsman who creates it.) The 130.4mm x 58.9mm x 12.8mm case weighs about 200g – five times less than most smart phones – thanks to its lightweight Grade 5 titanium material. The brushed metal is complemented by polished black ceramic and black leather in four different combinations; titanium black leather, titanium black alligator, titanium pure black or titanium black PVD red gold mixed materials.
Just as a complicated movement beats at the heart of our favorite timepieces, the Vertu Ti is driven by the high-powered Android 4.0 operating system. With 64GB of internal memory, this is a serious piece of hardware, with a gyro and accelerometer. Additional bells and whistles include an 8MP main camera with AF and LED flash, and a Bang & Olufsen sound system with musical punctuation provided by the London Symphony Orchestra. Since the software was created by Google, the phone comes equipped with Gmail, Google Maps, Navigation, Sreet View, YouTube and Google Drive services. In addition, Vertu provides unique luxury services like Vertu Concierge, Vertu Life and Vertu Certainty, designed to help clients with everything from exclusive tickets to shopping.
