The Most Beautiful Watches You Didn’t See at Baselworld: Zenith Academy Christophe Colomb Hurricane Grand Voyage Revolucións
While we saw some incredible pieces at Baselworld 2014, some of the most incredible pieces are ones that the public didn’t even get to see. Case in point? Zenith recently produced three one-of-a-kind adaptations of its iconic Academy Christophe Colomb Hurricane Grand Voyage. Dedicated to Simón Bolívar, Che Guevara and Emiliano Zapata, these timepieces never even made it to Zenith’s Baselworld booth.
Instead, these timepieces dedicated to emblematic South American revolutionary figures were sold during a dinner hosted by Haute Time, Zenith CEO Jean-Frédéric Dufour, Jean-Claude Biver, the Head of the Watches Division of the LVMH Group and Hublot Chairman, and Rick De La Croix, Hublot’s Exclusive Partner in the Americas.
Housed in a mahogany box adorned with corner trims and an oxbone lock, the three timepieces were snatched up by a private customer at the dinner for $1.2 million. That sale, along with the presence of Zenith ambassador Felix Baumgartner and KISS drummer Eric Singer, made it a very memorable night!
