The Latest Harry Winston Creation: Midnight Skeleton

Harry Winston, the American haute jeweller and producer of haute Swiss timepieces that is headquartered in New York, has recently released their latest offering to the chronograph market:  the highly-detailed Midnight Skeleton watch.

This latest addition to the manufacture’s Midnight collection comes in two versions:  an 18-karat white gold model or an 18-karat rose gold model.  Both feature a 42mm case, and the watch is driven by a automatic movement caliber VMF 5381-02/H1 and provides a power reserve of 42 hours for both the minute and hour functions.

The jeweler’s arches are set in place at 3 and 9 o’clock, and to make the telling of time easy against the skeletonized circular-patterned dial that is plated with rhodium, the hour and minute hands are made of contrasting gold.   Details such as the micro-rotor are visible through the skeletonizing.  The movement plate has an impressive counter-clockwise motion, a detail that is sure to please chronograph aficionados.

The watches are water resistant to 100 feet, and have brown or black alligator leather straps that are fastened by gold tang buckles that are matching.

The asking price for a Midnight Skeleton watch is around $44,200.

The Harry Winston jewelry and watch company is named after its founder, the well-known Harry Winston who was recognized as being a master jeweller while still quite young and is perhaps the most recognized name in the luxury goods industry.  Winston famously donated the notorious Hope Diamond to the Smithsonian Institution in 1958.
