TAG Heuer Is Launching A Carrera In Its Purest Form
The TAG Heuer Carrera is an icon when it comes to sports chronographs. Ever since its creation in 1963, it has set the pace in this category. To mark the brand’s 160th anniversary, TAG Heuer is now launching the Carrera Elegant, which takes its inspiration from the very first Carrera’s refined design. To replicate this, TAG Heuer used a smooth bezel without a tachymeter scale. In fact, this scale is even absent on the dial, where the brand opted for a cleaner 60-seconds indication instead.
TAG Heuer further made the minute and hour counter of the chronograph slightly more prominent, while the running seconds are featured on a minimal subdial at six o’clock. It gives this 42mm large watch a very clean and purposeful look. As a result of this, is your eye also drawn more to subtle details, like the shape of the hour markers and the beautiful finish of the dials. TAG Heuer is introducing the Carrera Elegant in four different versions. The one with the silver opaline dial is the most classic of the bunch, as it combines this with gold-plated hour markers and hands and a brown alligator strap. More modern in appearance is the version with anthracite sunray brushed dial, which TAG Heuer delivers on the same strap as its sibling. The Carrera Elegant’s black and blue dial versions are fitted with a metal bracelet in a traditional H-shape design, which gives them a more sportive look.
All four of the watches are powered by Calibre Heuer 02. This automatic chronograph movement is made in TAG Heuers manufacture in the Swiss town of Chevenez. It has the classic setup of a good chronograph movement, featuring a column wheel and a vertical clutch. Impressive is not only its power reserve of 80-hours but also that the watch is water-resistant up to 100 meters/10 ATM. This means that while this Carrera is elegant, you can still enjoy it while engaging in a wide variety of activities, even those underwater.
