Special Dubai “Skyfall” Premiere Hosted by Omega
To celebrate the release of the latest James Bond film “Skyfall”, on October 24 luxury watch maker Omega sponsored the Dubai premiere of the film in the Gulf city’s Reel Cinemas at Dubai Mall. The movie will officially open this Friday, and throughout the film, one will catch glimpses of Daniel Craig’s James Bond sporting the now-famous Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean and Aqua Terra timepieces.
In order to add some extra razzle-dazzle to the new movie’s celebration, Omega has unveiled a limited edition Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M Skyfall watch which should please both James Bond fans and timepiece aficionados alike. Like other Planet Ocean watches, the 600M Skyfall is set for an underwater adventure; the diving bezel is unidirectional and rotates, and there is also a helium release valve which means it is water-resistant to 2000 feet or 600 meters/60 bar. The watch also features a 42 mm stainless steel case with a brushed and polished texture, and the diver’s clasp on the screw-and-pin bracelet strap has “007” fashionably engraved on it. A matte black ceramic ring and diving scale of chromium nitride on the diving bezel rounds the look perfectly: functional, elegant, yet masculine and strong.
The timepiece has been specially made for divers, enhanced with features such as hands that emit different colours of light so that a diver will be able to tell the time easily at a glance. A 007 logo is in the 7 o’clock position, and in the three o’clock position, there is a date window.
Powered by Omega’s new co-axial calibre 8507, the 600M Skyfall Limited Edition is also set up with a “Si14” silicon balance spring. The Planet Ocean’s technology is considered to be so reliable, consistent and stable that Omega gives the watch a four-year warranty. There will only be 5007 of the limited edition Skyfall watches manufactured, and each watch will be delivered in a box specifically made for the Skyfall timepieces.
For two weeks, there will be a special exhibition at the Reel Cinemas entrance where Omega watches that made appearances in James Bond films over the years will be on display.
