The SIAR in Mexico Will Open with a Bang by The Unnamed Society

The Unnamed Society, founded in 2019, is an exclusive group of celebrities, inventors, designers, artisans and close friends. It is getting ready to open this year’s Salón Internacional Alta Relojería México (SIAR) in Mexico with precision.

Mostly based in the U.S., the members are leaders in the worlds of art, music and fashion. But shhh, they are clandestine. The names of The Unnamed Society’s members are a mystery. Representatives of The Unnamed Society have informed Haute Time that is so because, “this is not about them but about what’s important to them: to take the Art of Gifting to its highest, most exclusive level.”

The Unnamed Society

The members have given themselves the challenge to reach a new level of art. We use the word “art” with intent. The Unnamed Society’s creations are manufactured with the highest materials in the world, the most erudite techniques, with the touch of fine craftsmanship that only comes with time.

The calling card of The Unnamed Society is an owl and key. If you lay eyes on one of its items somewhere in the world, you will know that it is of the highest quality and that the recipient means a great deal to the one who gives it.

SIAR

Mexico City will once again host SIAR, the famed invitation-only gathering of timekeepers and the finest objects that mark history they love. This year’s edition takes place on October 15-17 in Mexico City.

The Unnamed Society’s first creation will be unwrapped at SIAR on October 15th. A revolver as a table clock, developed in collaboration with Swiss luxury brand L’Epée. The clock’s shapely design represents the fragility of time and how it can be stolen from us.

The exclusivity of each of The Unnamed Society’s objects is distinct. Each gun is unique. The grip and the engraving are made on special order. Each brings a unique savoir-faire in creating bespoke pistol grips. Materials and finishes range from exotic woods – olive, pear and palm tree wood as well as rosewood – to shagreen, the use of decorative ray skin in cabinetmaking, and similarly exotic skins. From to gems set in precious metals, to elk antler, sheep horn and giraffe bone. The possibilities for personalizing the object are virtually limitless.

“We knew from the outset that we were working on something truly special,” says Arnaud Nicolas, CEO of L’Epée. “Translating the vision of the team into a unique clock caliber has been the challenge of a lifetime and all of us here at L’Epée are very proud of the result. Working with time from all its angles, historical, mechanical and aesthetic, has rarely been so rewarding.”

Look for the owl and the key. But do not be disheartened if you do not find it. Chances are that most of us will not.
