Roger Dubuis And Finding Synergy Between Classic Craftsmanship And Dazzling Design
Roger Dubuis has always been a unique brand ever since it was founded in 1995 by the master-watchmaker with the same name. From the beginning, the design was just as important as the exquisite movements that powered these refined watches. In only four short years the brand became a true manufacture, producing in-house movements of excellent quality that were even awarded the prestigious Geneva Seal.
This dualism has become a hallmark of Roger Dubuis, even more so because, for them, it became a source of synergy. In many ways is the brand manufacture that stays true to the traditions. The design and finish of their movements is one that follows the written and unwritten codes that have propelled Swiss watchmaking to the position that it holds today. Roger Dubuis is, however, not restricted by this, because within this framework, the brand loves to innovate. Within their manufacture on the outskirts of Geneva, they had everything that allowed them to take things truly to the next level.
In 2003 they launched the sprung balance, which they produce in-house, and of which later on four would be used in the Quatuor RD101 to find a new way to compensate for the effect the earth gravity has on the accuracy of a mechanical movement. In 2005 Roger Dubuis launched another novelty that would mark a significant moment within the history of the brand. A caliber that combined a double tourbillon with extensive skeletonization would set the pace for new watches to come.
What is so remarkable about Roger Dubuis is the ease in which they incorporate these sophisticated, traditionally made movements in avant-garde designs. While the brand has gold watches in its collection, it also has extensive experience of working with carbon fiber. This material creates a beautiful synergy with the skeletonized movements, allowing Roger Dubuis to create larger watches that are light-weight and have an almost unmatched wearing comfort. As all is visible, they also perfectly showcase the beauty of the movements and highlight the skills needed to create them. These special qualities allow Roger Dubuis to create watches that come from tradition, yet dazzle with their avant-garde appearance.
