RJ-Romain Jerome Commemorates 100th Anniversary Of Launch Of Titanic With Two Limited Series

April 2, 1912 marked the first time the Titanic set sail on the Atlantic waters. The powerful symbol of the industrial age and the gem of the White Star Line caused a media frenzy worldwide, and one hundred years later, the Titanic’s star power continues to live on.

RJ-Romain Jerome pays tribute to the 100th anniversary of the launch of the Titanic with two special limited series in a collection inspired by the infamous ship: Steampunk Auto 100th Anniversary and Steampunk Chrono 100thAnniversary.

The Steampunk models in the Titanic-DNA collection embody the ship’s sheer power, housed in a 50 mm-diameter case featuring distinctive rough and raw finishes. They feature oxidized and then stabilized steel stemming from a fusion between metal from the legendary wreck lying 3,840 meters under the ocean, provided by the Harland & Wolff shipyards where the Titanic was built.

The mobile propellers appearing on the dial are reminiscent of those on the Titanic, and they were also been oxidized and stabilized by the same process as that used for the bezels of Titanic-DNA watches. To top it off, a unique medallion commemorating the launch adorns the casebacks of the timepieces.
