Richard Mille Adds Romain Dumas to Cadre of Race Car Drivers

Richard Mille scored another victory in the world of extreme haute horology with the sponsorship of Romain Dumas’ effort to conquer the Pike’s Peak International Hill Climb in Colorado.

Dumas finished second in the 14,110 foot climb, his Porsche 911 GT3-R crossing the finish line only 17 thousandths of a second behind winner Rhys Millen. His timepiece of choice for the endurance-driving adventure was an RM 011 FM from Richard Mille.

Designed specifically for motorsports, the RM 011 FM features a 50 mm Titanium case with DLC coating powered by an automatic movement that ticks off hours, minutes, seconds and date. The transparent case back merges seamlessly with a black rubber strap held together with a deployment clasp. The power reserve for the piece, which includes a chronograph function, is 55 hours.

The arduous 13 mile Hill Climb, also know as the “Race to the Clouds”, is peppered with 156 hairpin turns traversing dozens of bottomless ravines. The road itself was only fully paved a year ago, but undoubtedly remained a white-knuckled exhibition of mental as well as physical prowess for the 34 year old Dumas. Dumas joins fellow race car drivers Felipe Massa, Jules Bianchi and Charles Leclerc on Richard Mille’s “partner racing driver” team.
