Rare Set of Jeweled Patek Philippe ButterFlies Watches Up For Auction
Antiquorum have got the luxury watch world buzzing with their announcement that a set of jeweled Patek Philippe ladies watches will go under the gavel during their upcoming “Important Modern & Vintage Timepieces” auction. The event, which will take place at the Hotel Richemond Geneva on March 17th, will include unique Rolex timepieces and a Henry Capt Musique D’amour Repeating Musical Watch, but the lot garnering the most attention so far is the jeweled Patek Philippes.
Lot 121 is an exceptional set of four jeweled watches from Patek Philippe’s “Gondolo Cabriolet – Butterflies” collection, Ref. 5099. The hand-crafted Jeweled ButterFlies collection was last seen in public when it sold to its current owner on February 8th, 2008. These watches begin with 28 x 28 x 8 mm square polished and brushed cases of 18K pink and white gold. Two push buttons at 5 o’clock and 7 o’clock open the cover, which are decorated with unique, varicolored gold butterfly designs set with diamonds and colored sapphires. The dial bears pink gold numerals, as well as two-tone silver baton indexes with applied pink gold and pink gold feuille hands. Inside a rhodiumed caliber 215 movement, stamped with the Seal of Geneva, features fausses cotes decoration, straight-line lever escapement and Gyromax balance.
The watches, accompanied by their original Patek Philippe boxes and certificates of origin, are expected to fetch between US$159,000 – $212,000. Previews of this and other lots from the “Important Modern & Vintage Timepieces” auction will be held in Geneva, Shanghai and Hong Kong.
