Ralph Lauren’s New Additions To The 867 And Safari Watch Collections
Luxury brand Ralph Lauren unveiled new additions to the Art Deco inspired 867 timepiece collection. All four watches are housed in a 35 mm stainless steel square case and they are all powered by the RL300-1 Swiss-made movement with a 42-hour power reserve. The overall design and shape of the case echo the geometry of Art Deco architecture. The square dial combines Arabic and Roman numerals with sleek Breguet-style hands.
The watch is available in four styles. Lacquered dials in a choice of black with a polished stainless steel link bracelet; or white with a brushed stainless steel link bracelet. The bracelet is integrated into the watch case and has a three-part fold-over bracelet clasp.
The same choice of dials is available with an interchangeable black calf strap.
The timepieces were recently unveiled in the most appropriate place, Ralph Lauren’s New York men’s flagship boutique at 867 Madison Ave., which is behind the watch’s name and its Art Deco and urban influences. In addition to the watches and other men’s items inside the boutique, an Owens Special Midget Racing Car, Circa 1944, from Ralph Lauren’s personal collection served as a central design element for the unveiling event.
The event also allowed the luxury brand to show a bespoke element for their watches. A strap for all Ralph Lauren watches can be made in the same material as Ralph Lauren suits. So your Ralph Lauren suit can come with a matching strap for your Ralph Lauren watch.
Ralph Lauren also showcased four new additions to its Safari watch collection with an “aged” steel finish for the case and buckle. The finish is more commonly referred to as a gunmetal which is a black oxide coating over stainless steel, providing an extra level of protection and a style identifier.
These durable watches are available in a 39 mm or 45 mm case and with either an all-black or a green camouflage dial, which is a signature design detail for Safari products. All models have beige Super-LumiNova Arabic numbers and all are powered with the RL300-1 Swiss-made movement with a 42-hour power reserve.
