Presenting The New Tonda Métrographe From Parmigiani
Among the superb new timepieces presented by Parmigiani at SIHH 2017, the Tonda “Métrographe” (a smart contraction of metropolitan and chronograph) targets young, urban dwellers who know how to make the most of every second of their time.
First introduced in 2014, the new “Métrographe” has returned with dial modifications that not only make it more dynamic, they also make the displays much easier to read. And as this is our month of the chronograph at Haute Time, what better time to show this beauty than now!
The dial still features 12 hour and 30 minute counters, but their proportions have been redesigned for more direct and effective reading. And the date, previously positioned in the hour counter at 6 o’clock, has now moved to a space of its own at 12 o’clock, for quick reading at a glance. The number “1” in the date window is coloured in red to mark the beginning of each month, while the small seconds at 3 o’clock features a double hand; both are there to remind us that time is of the essence.
In addition to dial display reworking, colour schemes also enhance reading facility. Housed within a fully polished steel case, two different dial colours are proposed: a shiny white silver shade and a black oxidised tone.
The black dial is enhanced with a powdered rose gold decal that matches the rose gold hands of the two counters, while those of the white dial are a beautiful blue.
A snailed decoration beneath the appliques and inside the counters creates a concentric pattern with a striped effect that gives depth to the dial. To add even more volume, the outer area of the figure 8 formed by the minute and hour counters is slightly raised. A tachometer scale on the periphery of the dial adds another dynamic to the design. And because our young urban dweller likes to go out at night, the hands and reworked appliques are luminescent-coated.
The case with a sapphire crystal case-back measures 40 mm x 11.7 mm. Each dial colour is offered with a choice of titanium/steel bracelet or calfskin strap with folding buckle, with black leather for the black dial and brown leather for the white silver dial.
The Tonda Métrographe is equipped with the PF315 automatic movement with functions of hours, minutes, small seconds, date and chronograph, and a power reserve of 42 hours.
Priced at EUR10,500 on leather and EUR10,900 on titanium and steel, these timepieces will be in boutiques from the end of March 2017.
