Piaget Introduces Two New Pieces Ahead Of SIHH 2016

As the sun sets on a year full of exciting watch news, Piaget is announcing a new duo of timepieces just ahead of next year’s SIHH 2016.

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the brand’s first in-house quartz movement, the ultra-thin 7P calibre, Piaget has unveiled the Emperador Coussin XL 700P. The peculiar concept watch, limited to only 118 pieces, is the brand’s first hybrid movement and features a self-winding calibre and a quartz generator.

With this new generator-regulated mechanical movement, Piaget has combined the reliability and precision of Swiss Made electronic regulation with its iconic reverse-construction calibre, at once showing their definitive expertise at two very different forms of watchmaking.

This innovative new movement is housed in a 46.5 mm cushion-shaped case, and thanks to the piece’s inverted construction, many functional elements of the watch are visible from its display side. The lack of a dial allows the wearer to peer into the black-coated movement and admire its traditional finishes, such as the guilloché micro-rotor adorned with the Piaget coat-of-arms, sunburst and chamfered bridges, circular stain-brushed wheels and silver-toned screws. The black hue of the calibre is matched by the black ADLC-coated gold bezel. The Emperador Coussin XL 700P is a member of Piaget’s Black Tie collection.

On the ladies’ side of things, the new Piaget  Limelight Gala Milanese boasts the same elegant aesthetics that made the original Limelight Gala a classic, but now adds a supple Milanese mesh strap that works perfectly with the watches sumptuous curves and asymmetrical lugs. The silky, comfortable band is easily adjusted  thanks to a sliding buckle that is as easy to handle as a pin buckle.
