Panerai Introduces 12 New Timepieces At “Dive Into Time” Exhibit In Florence
This week, Panerai is inviting friends and admirers of the brand to dive into time and explore its past, present and future. From May 18 to the 24, the Florentine brand is holding the Dive Into Time exhibit in the crypt of the former church of San Pancrazio, home of the Marino Marini Museum in the center of Florence.
The crypt that houses the exhibit, which is normally reserved as an exhibition space for contemporary art, was transformed into a chronological walkthrough of the history of Panerai. Its different areas are split up based on the time period and theme.
The exhibition will include previously unseen collections from various periods of Panerai’s history, including the iconic watches created for the Royal Italian Navy from the 1930’s to the 1950’s and a panorama of the models created by Panerai over the past 20 years.
The exhibit will also include a world preview of a number of new models. Arguably, the most noteworthy new piece is the new Luminor Due case, which is inspired by the lines of the classic Luminor of the 1950s but has been subtly redesigned to work in a number of situations. Elsewhere, the new Luminor Marina collection received a considerable update, sporting a deep reduction in the thickness and weight of the case. In Florence, six models of the new collection were presented, all fitted with the new automatic P.9010 calibre with a power reserve of three days. The exhibit will also serve as the world premiere of the Radiomir 1940 Minute Repeater, one of the most complicated watches ever produced by the brand. It also features a new twin repeater mechanism of hours and ten-minute intervals, which can chime both the local time and that of a second time zone.
