OMEGA’s Best BOND Moments

What would British secret agent James Bond be without his OMEGA watch? Omegas are as synonymous with the international man of mystery as is the Aston Martin and the martini. 007 always has a spectacular timepiece on his wrist—and occasionally it makes its way into the plotline. Here are our top five favorite moments when OMEGA stole the scene.

GoldenEye (1995)
Time isn’t on Bond’s side, but an OMEGA watch is, in this case a Seamaster Quartz Professional 300M with a blue dial. When Bond is trapped in the villain’s train there are just second to spare before the GoldenEye bomb explodes. Luckily, Bond uses the watch’s built-in laser on the bezel to cut through the steel train and leap free in the nick of time.

The World is Not Enough (1999)
While on the Thames in a speedboat chase, Bond wears the OMEGA Seamaster 300M. This Seamaster has built-in illumination, so when he is caught in an avalanche, the OMEGA timepiece’s dial brings in his only light.

Casino Royale (2006)
Eva Green, who plays Bond’s love Vesper Lynd says, “Beautiful,” of Bond’s watch as they hurtle by train through the countryside of Montenegro. It’s the blue OMEGA Seamaster 300M, but with a Co-Axial escapement, and is beautiful indeed.

Die Another Day (2002)
“New watch, this’ll be your twentieth I believe,” says Q to Bond. This is a reference to the fact that Die Another Day was actually the 20th Bond film. In this film he wears the Seamaster 300M. The film also marked the first time that OMEGA issued a limited edition watch, a Seamaster, to celebrate both the film and the 40th anniversary of the franchise.

Skyfall (2012)
Out now, Skyfall is the newest film in the Bond franchise. Bond wears the OMEGA Planet Ocean 600M, OMEGA Co-Axial calibre 8500, 42mm, steel-on-steel. This incorporates the latest self-winding chronometer movement, the 8500, with a 60-hour power reserve. The second OMEGA featured in SKYFALL, rated to 150m (500 feet) – still a specialist depth well beyond any recreational diver – is the OMEGA Seamaster Aqua Terra. Both are shockproof and, truly, ready for action.
