Omega Unveil Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M GoodPlanet

From their development of the first diver’s watch in 1932 to their sponsorship of Yann Arthus-Bertrand’s environmental documentary, Omega has strong ties to the world’s oceans. Now the manufacture is celebrating those ties with the addition of the Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M GoodPlanet, a new timepiece dedicated to the GoodPlanet Foundation and the work it does for our ocean ecosystems.

The Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M GoodPlanet begins with a 43.5 mm stainless steel case, housing a blue lacquered dial with applied indexes, and rhodium-plated hour, minute, seconds hands. There is also an aluminium GMT hand coated with white Super-LumiNova, and a green minute hand. A date window features at 3 o’clock, while a bright orange GMT scale on the bi-directional polished blue bezel ring and a central GMT hand make it possible to track two separate time zones. A lacquered orange 24-hour scale stands out on the bezel ring, a useful feature which complements the helium-escape valve located at 10 o’clock. The self-winding Co-Axial calibre 8605 movement with a three-level Co-Axial escapement and Si14 silicon balance spring can be glimpsed through the sapphire crystal caseback. The caseback also features a “GoodPlanet Foundation” engraving. The Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M GoodPlanet is completed by either a classic stainless steel bracelet or a sporty blue rubber strap.

Omega has been a partner of GoodPlanet since 2011, with the aim of raising awareness of the beauty of the oceans and the dangers they face in order to highlight the importance of preserving and appreciating these natural resources. To that aim, a portion of the proceeds from the new Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M GoodPlanet will go to fund a project to preserve the delicate ecosystem in Southeast Asia and educate the local population about conservation.
