Omega Celebrates 36th America’s Cup With Special Seamaster 300M Chronograph

As the official timekeeper of the America’s Cup has Omega created a tradition of celebrating each edition of this prestigious ocean race with a special watch. The 36th America’s Cup is, fortunately, no exception to this rule. With the Seamaster Diver 300M America’s Cup Chronograph, the brand delivers a formidable watch that combines dynamic looks with technical innovations.

OMEGA_210.30.44.51.03.002_PUBThe new Seamaster chronograph is a robust watch with a 44mm case made from stainless steel. Legibility and easy-to-use features are of great importance when battling oceans at high speed. The bezel is, therefore, made from ceramic and features an enamel diving scale in white. On the dial, which is also made from blue ceramic, we not only find the signature wave pattern but also two subdials. The one on the left shows the running seconds, while the other features a regatta timer as part of the chronograph. Here the teams can easily follow how much time they still have left before the start. To operate the chronograph, Omega fitted this Seamaster Chronograph with two soft-touch rubber pushers, which are also color-coded. This makes them easy to use under harsh and wet circumstances. Adittionally is this watch also fitted with a ‘Chrono lock,’ which can secure the chronograph function, so that no errors in timing can be made.

Lens Position: 4764

To power the new watch, Omega opted for its Caliber 9900. This movement was introduced in 2016, and the first chronograph caliber to receive the METAS, Master Chronometer, certification. It offers a power reserve of 60 hours, thanks to two mainspring barrels, while a column wheel ensures the precise operating of the chronograph. It is beautifully finished, and therefore fortunate that Omega decided to fit this watch with a sapphire glass in the caseback. Despite this, does it still have a water resistance of 300 meters.

OMEGA_9410.00.23_openThe Seamaster Diver 300M America’s Cup Chronograph is delivered in a handsome box, highlighting the colors of the America’s Cup. It comes with not only the signature stainless steel bracelet but also an additional rubber strap. Swapping between the two can be done with ease, thanks to Omega’s new quick-change system. This makes the new Seamaster Chronograph not only a fitting tribute to the 36th edition of the America’s Cup but also a very desirable sports watch.
