Omega Arrives at Casino de Monte-Carlo in Monaco
Swiss haute horologer Omega brought its exquisite creations the one of the most coveted venues in one of the most refined countries – Casino de Monte-Carlo in Monaco.
To celebrate the launch of its new boutique, the latest in a swelling network of addresses around the world, Omega hosted a star-studded ribbon cutting ceremony on May 19. The event confirmed the link between James Bond’s watchmaker and the famed Casino De Monte-Carlo.
The label’s President and CEO Raynald Aeschlimann explained: “When James Bond first wore an OMEGA watch, it was in the 1995 film GoldenEye. And one of the spy’s early scenes was at this casino. It’s where OMEGA’s relationship with the character began and we love that we’re back here tonight to establish a new boutique and extend our presence in this fabulous place.”
The roster of notable guests included Oscar-nominated actress Naomie Harris, Swatch Group France General Manager Florence Olivier, Swiss singer-songwriter and Omega ambassador Bastian Baker (who entertained the crowd with an emotional performance), as well as His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco.
On the occasion the prince, whom Aeschlimann presented with a Seamaster Planet Ocean “PyeongChang,” said: “I’ve had the pleasure of attending several OMEGA events in the past especially those linked to sports. Most recently, I was with them for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro during their role as Official Timekeeper, and I am delighted to welcome them here in Monaco.”
While the new store speaks of Omega’s connection to the tiny European nation, it also exemplifies the horologer’s signature themes of water, earth and time. The interplay of glass, zebrawood and leather create an opulent yet intimate atmosphere, which coddles an extensive selection of the brand’s jewelry pieces as well as watches from the Constellation, Seamaster, De Ville and Speedmaster collections.
