IWC Schaffhausen Debuts Portugieser Automatic Edition “Kuwait”
Almost two decades after the start of their collaboration, Swiss luxury horologer IWC Schaffhausen and its retail partner Behbehani Group present a special-edition Portugieser timepiece to fete their staunch ties.
As a subtle cue to 1998, the year when IWC Schaffhausen and Behbehani Group allied in the Gulf state of Kuwait, the Portugieser Automatic Edition “Kuwait” comes in only 98 pieces. Powered by the IWC 52010 calibre, the timepiece boasts a power reserve of seven days, which are ticked away in a display at 3 o’clock. Opposite it, at 9 o’clock, a round seconds display chugs. Beneath it, at 6 o’clock, the dates change.
Rendered in a stainless-steel 42.3mm case, this Portugieser flaunts an intense green dial, which eye-catchingly contrasts with the golden hands and numerals. While the color palate of the watch somehow evokes Kuwait, the “B” engraved on the medallion of the rotor references the Behbehani Group.
Mounted on a Santoni black alligator leather strap, the Portugieser Automatic Edition “Kuwait” is exclusively available in the IWC Schaffhausen boutique at the upscale 360 Mall in Al Zahra, Kuwait.
