IWC Pilot’s Double Chronograph Coming to a Theater Near You
Since 1868 IWC Schaffhausen has crafted fine watches for the discriminating collector, and now the protagonist in a major motion picture has joined their ranks. Movie goers lined up to see The Bourne Legacy when it opens on August 10 might be surprised to find star Jeremy Renner wearing an IWC Pilot’s Watch Double Chronograph Edition in his portrayal of Aaron Cross.
With a diameter measuring 46 mm and a height of 17.5 mm, the Pilot’s Double Chronograph case is composed of ultra-modern black ceramic. Its crown, push buttons and and back cover are forged in matte grey titanium. IWC’s self-winding 79230 chronograph movement powers the piece on land or underwater to a depth of 200 feet.
With a 44-hour power reserve, the Pilot’s Double Chronograph features a soft iron inner case, meant to protect the watch against the the constant onslaught of electromagnetic fields emitted by phones and tablets. The convex, sapphire crystal comes treated with anti-reflective coatings both inside and out. Underneath, the face keeps track of hours, minutes, seconds and split seconds.
According to a press release, IWC’s role in The Bourne Legacy is just one in a string of appearances the watchmaker has enjoyed in both television and film. Watch aficionados can look forward to following IWC’s acting career in the future, as more and more companies begin to rely on product placement over traditional advertising.
