Introducing The Hublot Big Bang Sapphire Unico
Hublot is having a love affair with sapphire. A few short weeks after revealing the MP-05 LaFerrari Sapphire at SIHH, a piece that put the intricate architecture and complex movement of the popular LaFerrari piece on full display, the Swiss watchmaker is unveiling the Big Bang Sapphire Unico.
With this new piece, Hublot suspends the Unico movement in a transparent sapphire case, making each part of the mechanism completely visible. To create a case middle, bezel and back completely crafted from sapphire, a material that’s almost as hard and scratch-resistant as diamond, Hublot called on the expertise of a Swiss specialist as part of an exclusive partnership.
Only a few pieces on the spine of the watch are made out of titanium, including the screws, the crown, which is overmoulded with silicon, and the deployant buckle. Finishing the look and continuing the theme of transparency is the strap, through which the wearer’s skin can be seen.
“The Big Bang Unico Sapphire is invisible yet makes the time display visible. It makes our proprietary Unico movement fully and completely visible. A watch which has nothing to hide, which fully reveals its construction and its movement,” says Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of Hublot.
The Hublot Big Bang Unico Sapphire is available in a limited edition of 500 pieces.
