Introducing A Unique Zenith Pilot Extra Special Presented By The Watch Gallery
Earlier today, Haute Time received an exclusive preview of a very special watch: the latest collaboration between Zenith and The Watch Gallery. The British retailer, with whom Hublot and Zenith have teamed up with in the past, has unveiled a unique Pilot Extra Special in stainless steal, limited to 35 pieces.
Powered by the Elite 679 Calibre, Zenith’s latest in-house automatic movement, the watch is based on this year’s Pilot Type 20 Extra Special Bronze, a vintage-insired pilot watch featuring a unique bronze case.
Many fell for the rugged charm of the vintage-inspired Extra Special Bronze, but others worried that the case would ‘patina’ in unpredictable ways, making the watch hard to wear on a daily basis.
The exclusive combination of stainless steel and signature TWG Blue dial presents no such problem. It is a more elegant, more versatile, and much more exclusive model than previous Extra Special pilots made by Zenith.
A pioneer of the genre, Zenith possesses some of the most historically important pilot watches inside its museum collection, including the wristwatch worn by Louis Blériot during his maiden flight across the English Channel in 1909. A century later, pilot watches continue to capture the imagination of collectors worldwide, even if their practical use has changed dramatically.
Featuring a typically oversized case and onion crown, the stainless steel Pilot Extra Special presents striking vintage Arabic numerals shaped entirely from Super-LumiNova® for increased legibility in the dark. It remains fashionably large at 45mm, but looks fabulous with a dark nay suit – something quite rare for this category of watches.
This Unique Zenith Pilot Extra Special is limited to 35 pieces, available exclusively to The Watch Gallery for £4,950.
