Hublot Unveil Exclusive MP-06 Senna Tribute to F1 Legend Ayrton Senna
Luxury watchmaker Hublot has unveiled the latest incarnation of their friendship with the Senna family. Following on the heels of the Big Bang Senna (presented in 2007), the Big Bang Foudroyante Senna (2009) and the King Power Ayrton Senna (2010), comes the new the MP-06 Senna, the most complicated watch produced by Hublot in the Senna edition.
Ayrton Senna, who was born in Brazil, was one of the best F1 drivers in the history of the sport. Senna was tragically killed in an accident while leading the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix. The new Ayrton Senna timepiece will celebrate his 41 victories and 3 Formula One championship titles with three limited editions in titanium, King Gold, or black PVD titanium (41 numbered pieces of each will be produced).
The MP-06 Senna features a tonneau-shaped case with an openworked sapphire dial revealing a tourbillon movement. This 155 component-timepiece features the Senna brand logo (in yellow, green or red depending on the version) at 9 o’clock on the sapphire dial. This timepiece is presented in a special case that is a miniature reproduction of Ayrton Senna’s helmet design in 88, 89 and 91. The MP-06 Senna boasts a 5-day power reserve.
As ever, a large part of the sales revenue will go directly to the family. The MP-06 Senna was presented yesterday in the presence of Ayrton Senna’s nephew Bruno and Hublot CEO Ricardo Guadalupe. Bruno, who is himself a professional driver, was given a tour of Hublot’s workshops, where he saw the very first MP-06 Senna models in production. Bruno told us; “We are so proud of having Hublot as one of our long lasting partners and extremely honoured that they chose the SENNA collection to present their new special watch design and technology. Celebrating Ayrton’s victories and titles with such a beautiful and special collection is outstanding.”
