Hublot Unveils Classic Fusion Pelé at New Rio de Janeiro Boutique
Today Hublot opened its first boutique in Latin America, and the luxury watchmaker celebrated the occasion by dedicating a new timepiece to soccer legend Pelé.
The Classic Fusion Pelé, which will be produced in a limited edition of 250 pieces, pays tribute to Pelé, AKA the King of Football, who began working with Hublot late last year.
This 45mm timepiece features a polished and satin-finished black ceramic case, bezel, crown and pushpieces. The dial features hours and minutes, a yellow central chronograph hand, a 60 minute subdial at 3 o’clock and a 30 minute subdial at 9 o’clock.
The openworked dial also showcases the automatic mechanical Aero Hublot chronograph movement and the skeletonized date disk, with indicator at 6 o’clock. The sapphire crystal caseback features Pelé’s signature.
It is completed by a black soccer ball-themed leather strap on a rubber backing, with yellow stitching.
The Classic Fusion Pelé got its debut alongside the unveiling of the new Hublot boutique in Rio de Janeiro. Hublot CEO Ricardo Guadalupe and Pelé were joined at the opening by tennis legend and Hublot ambassador Guga Kuerten, and Hublot’s exclusive partner in the Americas, Rick de la Croix.
The “Cidade Maravilhosa” (the marvelous city) seems like a natural place for both the unveiling of Pelé’s timepiece and for the location of Hublot’s first Latin American address; the city will be hosting the World Cup this year, for which Hublot is the official timekeeper!
The boutique, which is located in the prestigious Fashion Mall in Rio de Janeiro, is the result of a long-standing friendship and partnership between Hublot and the Zylberman family, owners of the jewelry retailer SARA.
