Hublot Organizes Historic “Match Of Friendship And Peace” In Paris With Ambassadors Pelé And Maradona
Two living legends, ten football greats, a 17th century garden, and a check for a good cause. Hublot made history today, one day before the UEFA EURO2016™ kick-off, with the “Match of Friendship and Peace” organized by the Swiss luxury watchbrand in the heart of Paris at the Palais Royal. For this exceptional, once-in-a-lifetime experience, the two best football players of all time: Hublot Ambassadors Pelé and Diego Maradona, coached two teams in a match where “there will be no winner. This is a game of friendship”, announced Hublot CEO Ricardo Guadelupe as the match was about to begin.
The players were none other than Hublot Friends of the Brand and football greats Ferdinand, Hierro, Dida, Crespo, Bebeto on Pelé’s team, with Trezeguet, Peruzzi, Ferrara, Materazzi and Seedorf coached by Maradona, passing and dribbling the ball on a former royal garden now surrounded by the French Ministry of Culture, the State Constitutional Council and a (very) chic shopping arcade. This (very) original 30 minute match with a penalty shoot-out at half time was all for a good cause, and the end result was a tie and a EUR 20,000 cheque for the UEFA Foundation for Children.
Hublot has been investing in football since 2008, and for this fifteenth edition of the UEFA championship is Official Watch of the UEFA EURO 2016™. In honour of this selection, the brand has introduced the Big Bang Unico Retrograde Chronograph UEFA EURO 2016™ – Official Watch, specially designed for football matches, timing the halves and added time, indicating the actual time, the elapsed time and current match period. The Official Watch of UEFA EURO 2016™ is dressed in red, white and blue – the colours of host country France – and comes in a limited edition of 100 pieces.
And because this championship is European, the 45 mm black ceramic case is equipped with a “One click” interchangeable strap system and a limited series of straps in the colours of England, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland.
The Championship will be played in 10 different stadiums throughout France from June 10 to July 10, with the opening and final matches at the Stade de France. And to quote Pelé replying to a budding champion who asked him for advice today at the Palais Royal, “I have one thing to tell you; keep the ball rolling!”
