Hublot Hosts A Series Of Events During Miami Art Week 2018
Designed in collaboration with reggaeton sensation Nicky Jam, Hublot unveiled the Big Bang Meca-10 Nicky Jam watch, a model available in three versions during Miami Art Basel at an exclusive party at The Temple House.
An audience of select guest, VIPs, celebrities and friends of the brand gathered for the occasion at the prestigious venue in the heart of South Beach to celebrate the talent of Nicky Jam, who treated guests to a special private concert. Hublot CEO Ricardo Guadalupe gave an endearing speech thanking Nicky for joining the Hublot family and showcased the exclusive timepieces.

“Hublot loves Art! Today, these words have double the meaning as we honor the music of our ambassador Nicky Jam by presenting this new model during a celebration taking place in the city of Miami, as it devotes itself entirely to exhibitions of paintings, sculptures and street art. Art, celebration, fusion, passion… we really are in our element here!,” said Guadalupe.

The three watches are different versions of the iconic Big Bang collection. The first version is made with Hublot’s famous black ceramic on the case and bezel, displaying the singer’s logo, composed of his initials at 12 o’clock on the dial. The second version is adorned with gold, a color favored by Nicky Jam, on the case, bezel, and crown; completed with semi-precious stones including yellow sapphires, orange sapphires, and tsavorites, mirroring the colors in Nicky’s “X (Equis)” video. The third version is cased in King Gold, with its flange, middle, Nicky Jam logo and its indexes set with baguette-cut diamonds, which can also be found on the clasp of its strap. More than 300 diamonds adorn the watch with a weight of 16.9 carats. All three watches offer an option of a strap in black Alcantara or in alligator dyed in red, yellow and green.
Nicky Jam has been an ambassador of the iconic watch brand since June, which was a natural fit for the internationally-renowned singer. “What a privilege to be able to wear a masterpiece of Swiss watchmaking bearing my initials on my wrist today! What does this have in common with my music? Behind every great success, be it a watch or a song, lies huge work resulting from an entire team’s efforts,” said Nicky.

HUBLOT CELEBRATES THE 2018 DESGIN PRIZE
WINNER DOZIE KANU IN MIAMI
Hublot celebrated Dozie Kanu with a cocktail reception at the brand’s premiere Design District boutique, Hublot Galerie, to toast to this year’s winner of the Hublot Design Prize.
The Houston native designer has created hundreds of whimsical, bright-colored bird feeders which are hung throughout the Miami Design District’s trees. Dozie also collaborated with the Caliber Foundation to create playful jungle gym instillations for children, in a mission to remove illegal guns off the streets and support victims of gun violence. With inspiration stemming from his childhood, Dozie used recycled metal pieces from decommissioned firearms to craft his structures.
The Hublot Design Prize, which was created in 2015, offers designers the opportunity to gain visibility and exposure needed for the future. This project seeks to discover designers with an innovative way of thinking and a desire to constantly push boundaries.

“Hublot is approaching watch design and collaborations from unexpected angles, and tonight’s Art Talk here in Miami with my friends Tristan Eaton and Martha Cooper will invite everyone into a unique conversation inspired by our craft. I always thought I’d admire art and be a spectator in the culture but to be in the eye of the hurricane and fusing my art with Hublot is really special,” said Fairey.
The panel, moderated by Hublot of North America President Jean-François Sberro, offered insight to understand the relationship between art and horology, which allows these partnerships to be brought to life in Miami’s talented art community.
