Hublot Goes All In With Poker Big Bang
Hublot is a popular brand amongst poker players, but the Swiss watchmaker made the relationship ‘Official’ by going all in and putting a Big Bang World Poker Tour® on the table.
Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of Hublot, chose to announce the partnership at the WPT® Five Diamond World Poker Classic currently under way until the 20th December at the Bellagio, in Las Vegas, and attended by the greatest professional and amateur players on the circuit. Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of Hublot, said the brand chose the Tour “because its global presence, televised tournaments and quality of its players make it a benchmark in the game,” and added that it would give the brand great commercial and marketing potential.
As expected, the design of the new Big Brand is heavily inspired by the game, and features a heart, spade, club and diamond on a 18K King Gold or steel bezel, as well as the in-house UNICO Manufacture Chronograph seen through a skeleton dial. The sapphire crystal of the case-back also bears the exclusive symbol of the World Poker Tour®.
Otherwise, the new Big Bang retains its most distinctive traits, with two counters encircled by polished silver-plated rings, displaying date and minutes at 3 o’clock and the small seconds at 9 o’clock. The 45.5 mm diameter Big Bang Unico World Poker Tour® is available in two versions: a limited edition of only 100 numbered pieces in 18K King Gold, and a more impact resistant steel edition, of 200 numbered pieces. Each watch is equipped with the famous, exclusive Easy One Click system which allows the wearer to switch easily between the three alligator straps that come with the watch.
Earlier this year, Poker player Keven Stammen received a Hublot King Power Unico when he beat Byron Kaverman in the WPT® in Borgata and the new partnership will see Hublot reward the WPT Player of the Year with a special prize during upcoming seasons. Hublot becomes the second Swiss watch brand to release a poker-themed watch, after Christophe Claret’s “Gaming Series” Poker wristwatch, but is the first Official Timekeeper and Official Watch of the World Poker Tour®.
