Hublot’s New Big Bang E Connected Watch To Be Sold On Its Website & WeChat For The First Time Ever

Two years after Hublot released its first connected version of the Big Bang for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, the luxury Swiss watch manufacturer has today released the Big Bang e—the latest creation embodying the brand’s apt “Art of Fusion” motto, bringing together heritage and innovation in a single piece. Made from either black ceramic or titanium in a layered or “sandwich” construction, as the brand calls it, it includes 42 components, 27 of which are for the K Module alone. And for the first time ever, the brand will sell the watch on its website, as well as on WeChat in China.

“Electronic watches were created in Switzerland using quartz in the 1970s,” began Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of Hublot. “Fifty years later, we are continuing in the same innovative vein by producing a second smart watch, which boasts an extremely high level of technological sophistication, whilst embodying all the aesthetic values, technical features and excellence that have ensured the reputation of our Big Bang collection. Ever more faithful to our “Art of Fusion” motto, we wanted the Big Bang e to unite Hublot’s highly advanced technical materials with the very latest innovations from today’s digital world.”

Available in a 42mm case made from titanium or ceramic, the Big Bang e has hour numerals in metal that sit underneath the scratchproof sapphire crystal, which is covered with an AMOLED high definition touchscreen. It also touts a rubber strap with Hublot’s signature and patented One Click system to quickly and easily change the strap. The watch was made in partnership with other brands under the LVMH umbrella, and features a “Time Only” analogue function; a Perpetual Calendar with precise moon phase or a second GMT time zone; and water resistance up to 30 meters. It is also powered by Wear OS by Google, allowing the wearer to use Google Play apps, interact with Google Assistant for quick help/answers, and use Google Pay for simple and efficient payments.

In the near future, fans of Hublot can expect ambassadors and Friends of the Brand to release dials for the watch that they created, as well. For instance, the first version will feature eight dials designed in partnership with storytelling artist Marc Ferrero as part of Hublot’s #HublotLovesArt movement; every three hours, the dial will change color, so that eight different creations will be displayed over the course of the 24 hours in the day. The colors are Happy Yellow, Magic Blue, Orange Dynamite, All White, Lucky Green, Magic Red, Rainbow Spirit and Black Magic. Each full hour will also be marked by a five-second animation.
