Haute Time Visits Baume & Mercier in New York

This week, Haute Time got the chance to visit with Baume & Mercier to get a close-up look at the Maison’s new timepieces for Spring. The Swiss manufacture introduced new watches from the Clifton and Capeland collections, and we’ve got your in-depth look:

First up is a Capeland 44mm timepiece, with a new manufacture movement with worldtimer function. This timepiece will be available in steel and 18K red gold – we got to see the steel piece, which will be available around July 2013. Pictured here with a blue alligator strap, this model features beautiful blue steel on the face of the watch. Best of all, this watch is actually very affordable at only $7900. Yes, $7900 for a worldtimer in steel, and $19,900 for the red gold version.

Next up is a top of the line watch from the Clifton series; pictured below is the Clifton 1830 in red gold, which retails for around $13,950. This timepiece has a power reserve of 90 hours, and a proprietary manual winding movement. For the price of $13,950, this piece is a great value, along with being in highly desirable red gold. According to the brand, this is the foundation of the Clifton line.

The last watch comes in under the usual price point of watches featured here on Haute Time, but felt we had to speak about the Baume & Mercier Clifton Complete Calendar Moon-phase Watch. When we inquired about the price, we couldn’t believe the Baume & Mercier rep when they replied that it sells for under $5000. In fact, this timepiece retails for $4950, and has a beautiful blue – called Sun Satin – finish. This watch displays the date, the day, and the month, along with the moon phases at the 6 o’clock position.

Overall, we have been very impressed with Baume & Mercier recently. The manufacture are staying within their brand, and creating great pieces at a very affordable price point.  We look forward to watching their development, particularly in regards to the Clifton series, which we predict will be a huge success for the brand.
