Haute Time Flies to Geneva For Polo Tournament Hosted by Breva
Breva hosted an open house Polo Tournament last weekend to celebrate the young brand’s recent success. Haute Time was there to check it all out:
Hundreds of polo enthusiasts gathered around the fields of the Geneva Polo Club, just 15 minutes away from the city, to enjoy a beautiful afternoon with some of the sport’s most experienced players.
Polo isn’t just a hobby for Breva CEO Vincent Dupontreué (pictured above, right). The French-born watchmaker plays up to four times a week, and it showed on the field, as he led team Breva Polo against a selection of the world’s best.
“It’s really a fantastic opportunity to measure yourself against top players, just as we are doing with our watches,” said Mr. Dupontreué, who wore the brand’s latest watch, the Genie 02 Air, during the polo matches, (pictured below).
Several former professionals were on display, including Walter Cortez, a 2 goal handicap professional, and José Pueblas who played in Vincent Dupontreué’s team alongside Jorge Serra, and François Babel.
The Breva Polo team proved a serious challenger, as they battled against the scorching heat to win the match for third place, while the San Marco polo club won the overall contest.
The horses – or mounts in Polo – were probably the happiest to hear the final whistle, as the players then joined the fans around a traditional post-tournament Argentine “Asado” BBQ.
Despite their third place finish, the day was ultimately one of celebration for Breva, who showed off some its latest models, including the Genie 02 Air (pictured below).
The star was of course the new, platinum-cased version of the Genie 01, the brand’s first timepiece. The new release features Genie 01’s proprietary caliber, a patented mechanism that calculates the weather based on air pressure and altitude. The Genie 01 limited edition platinum is priced at $205,000.
We also spotted the Genie 01 in 4N rose gold (pictured above), which also houses the proprietary movement developed exclusively for Breva by Jean-François Mojon. Available in 55 pieces, it is priced at $165,000.
The Genie 02 Air, a mechanical altimeter unveiled earlier this year at BaselWorld, was also on hand (pictured above), only weeks after it was awarded the Bad Boys Watch of the Year at the third Temporis Gala Awards. The Génie 02 Air is a limited edition of 55 pieces in Titanium G5 with a retail price of $132,000.
