Haute Event: Hublot Hosts Star-studded Pop-up for Los Angeles Lakers Youth Foundation
More than any other group of professional athletes, basketball players have truly embraced the art of Haute Horlogerie, expertly pairing luxury timepieces with an already pin sharp and adventurous sense of fashion, so it’s a no brainer that Hublot would partner with the league’s biggest team, the Los Angeles Lakers, for a good cause.
During Sunday night’s Laker game vs. the Oklahoma City Thunder, Hublot hosted a shopping event benefitting the Lakers Youth Foundation. The swiss watchmaker showcased several of its special edition pieces, including Kobe Byant’s The King Power Black Mamba and The King Power Los Angeles Lakers limited edition, a one-of-a-kind timepiece that features authentic jersey material woven into the strap. The enthusiastic crowd of basketball and watch fans included celebrities like David Arquette, Alfonso Ribeiro, Bryan Greenberg, Jesse Metcalfe, Gilles Marini, and many more.
Hublot donated a chunk of the proceeds from the event to the The Los Angeles Lakers Youth Foundation, the team’s official charity. The Foundation’s mission is to help underserved youth develop their potential by providing positive experiences and resources in education, health and wellness, and sports. “Tonight is such a great occasion because all of the Hublot watches sold here in our court side pop-up shop will support a tremendous cause. Hublot is donating 20% of proceeds from sales here today, to the Lakers Youth Foundation.” said Greg Simonian, owner of Hublot Beverly Hills.
Clad in Lakers purple and gold, the celebrities in attendance expressed their appreciation for the good work that Hublot and the Los Angeles Lakers have done via the Lakers Youth Foundation. “I am a true Lakers fan inside and out,” Actor David Arquette expressed passionately. “I love being able to support a great cause and my team at the same time.” The event was open to the public, welcoming chairman’s lounge guests who browsed the selection of watches before heading out to watch the game.
